How to fetch data from two tables at once using UNION

1
Dear Friends,

I have to get data from the both table.[table names are (table1 and table2)]. I am using mysql with php for my task.

Is that possible to store in one result set.Also I want the unique data.
How can I write through the query.

Please help me,
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. $query = "select name, age from table1 and table2";
  2.
Thanks in advance.

Regards,
maza.
