q re apostraphes that are escaped...

Folks,

When I insert a record that contains an apostraphe that was escaped with a
preceeding slash, does the data record include the slash?

I use Mysql Control Center to examine my data as I test my PHP scripts and
found that the data did *not* contain the slash - I'm wondering if its
because I've somehow removed it and opened a security hole or if normal
operation of MySQL purposely removed the slash and stored the character by
itself.

Thanks,
randelld
