MySQL Back Up

Carmentisis
Hello,

I hope someone can advise me with a problem I am having.

I am using the linux edition of MyPanel and under MySQL Databases>MySQL Backup I am trying to make a back up.

The problem is that the back up starts and then times out. No error messages, just a blank screen. I made a back up last month and it worked absolutely fine.

MySQL Version 4
MyPanel: the control panel provided by my host.

I have one main database which holds sub databases for the main site, forum and shop.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi, and welcome to TSDN!

I've been looking around but I have not been able to find any info on this problem.

Have you tried to contact your host? It is possible that they have changes some settings that may cause this problem. In which case they should be able to help you.

Hello Atli and thank you for the welcome!

I have just had a reply from my host and they say that my database is too big now.

This seems bizarre considering I did a back up 2 months ago and it worked fine.

They have forwarded me to a couple of sites that back up things but I am a little unsure of using them due to them asking me to add coding into the database and I am a complete beginner...if anyone knows of any step by step guides for beginners like me on backing up via a third party I would be most appreciative.

Is there usually a size limit on SQL databases? I am sure ours is only about 200MB and that is for the whole site. (and I think 100MB is about the size of the forum itself)
