Help With Copying Data

Hi, hope someone can help. I think it may be easy, but I'm not skilled enough.

- I have 2 tables: listings and agents
- Both tables have a field AgentID
- Agents table has a field ExpDate, listings does not
- I created a field on listings called ExpDate

How do I copy the "ExpDate" field from agents table into the ExpDate field on the agents table - making sure it's matching the same AgentID field?

There may be more than one record with the same AgentID in the listings table.

SECONDLY
In the future when an ExpDate is created, what is the code to post it to both tables? I wasn't sure you can post data to two fields in two different tables at once.

Thanks!

Heya, techmistress. Welcome to TSDN!

To copy the ExpDate to the other table:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. UPDATE `Agents`, `Listings` SET `Listings`.`ExpDate` = `Agents`.`ExpDate` WHERE `Listings`.`AgentID` = `Agents`.`AgentID`;
Make sure you backup your data first!

As for keeping the data synched, why not combine the data into one table?
