Hi, and welcome to TSDN!

What kind of a server is it?
I mean, I could set up Apache on my laptop and call that a server.

Heya, N33L.

please note speed of processing on the database is of major importance.
Well then, it sounds like you're going to want to buy a high-end system to host your database. Make sure you copy the my-huge.cnf file included with your MySQL installation to /etc/my.cnf so that MySQL knows that it's OK to use as much memory and CPU time as necessary to produce fast results.
