Mysql - Crosstab, I think

7
Hi Guys,

I'm working on a report in Pentaho BI Suite, the problem I have is that jfreereport isn't great at supporting different layouts easily so I was going to cheat and create a different table in Mysql and then just run that.

The problem I have is at the moment my table looks like so....
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Bch Date      goods_value
  2. a09 1/08/2006  3450
  3. A09 2/08/2006 2039
  4. ...
  5.
There is all the data I need in the table exactly how I need it apart from 1 minor problem, my boss wants the date fields across the top like column headers then the totals on the line below, the A09 is unimportant.

So after loads of looking around I figure I need a cross tab query, but what I dont understand is how do I get enough columns with out me having to specifically call the date for everyone(as the dates will be changing), or can't I?

Any pointers welcome

Cheers

I am unfamiliar with the product you are using, but I am not sure that things need to be as complicated as you have stated. Perhaps you could reword your question so I can understand what you are trying to do more thoroughly?
