MySQLDump 10.9

1
My website host provides a back-up facility (using MySQLDump), but in the last week they have upgraded from MySQLDump 9.11 to 10.9. Unfortunately the output .sql is no longer useable. Instead of all the insert statements for each table being on separate lines, they now appear on one extremely long line for each table. Given that my database is a busy forum, this means the lines are so long they bomb any editor/viewer I try to use on the .sql file. Can anyone suggest what my host has done wrong - they are Supanames, so I need to give them all the help I can to resolve this.

Thanks

Paul

Heya, wotcha. Welcome to TSDN!

This won't solve your problem, but it should at least serve as a useful workaround until you can get the problem fixed. Try running mysqldump through sed:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. mysqldump -u ... database | sed "s/;/;\
  2. /" > filename.sql
  3.
(note the escaped newline)
