SQL server? MySQL server?

46
Hi guys...

Can anyone tell me that whether SQL server or MySQL server is easier to connect and write the code in VB6?
What is the advantage and disadvantages in these servers?

Thank you!

I have no idea about VB6, but I personally think MySQL is easier to use.

MySQL has some nice features, tho most of them are outside the standard.

What features are so good that they are outside the standard? Are the people who do draft up the SQL standard considering any of these non-standard features?

I would assume it would be easier to use MSSQL with VB, as they were both written by the same company. I know that most of their IDEs have database wizards built in, and data object to work off of their database drivers.

Things like AUTO_INCREMENT and the LIMIT clause are technically outside the standard and would not be recognized by any other SQL interpretor other than MySQL. These non-standard featurs are a big part of why MySQL has become so popular, as they can make things simpler, especially for new developers that have little experience with SQL.
