MySQL and mobile devices...

4
Hey all!

I'm planning to build a databse application that will be a task/resource scheduler.
Basicly the user must be able to add tasks for each day and assign resources to this task (people/vehicles). We have a winbox running server 2k3 available and for this main part MySQL and a php front would be best in my opinion.

So far so good, but some people on the field will need to be able to work with the application too, using smartphones. I wonder if the best thing would be to just have them connect to a webpage designed for the phones or have a standalone app on the phone where new data of the db gets pushed to.

I'm hoping some ppl have some experience with this as I'm not sure which way to go to keep the ppl on the field smoothly synchronised with data. Are there good toolsets available to provide these services smoothly?

Any advice appreciated!

Cheers,
Johan
