Does MySQL have any limitation fetching large dataset???

Hi

I posted a query a few days bak saying that a join statement was taking very long time. The same query works fine in Oracle on the same tables but takes a very long time in MySQL.
Both the tables are indexed, Tab 1 has 998005 entries and Tab 2 has 9920 entries.
I have also tried using EXISTS and IN. but the fate is same.
Is there any limitation in MySQL for which the query takes so long.

I don't know what version of MySQL you are running, but you could have a look at the slow Query Log to see if anything unusual is happening.

See the MySQL documentation at The Slow Query Log

Also chapter Optimizing Query Performance could maybe assist you in finding the problem.

Another source for investigating +a possible solution is the following article about indexing. See Optimizing MySQL: Queries and Indexes .
