setting up mysql and php on windows xp

hi all
i am trying to build a simple php mysql page but i need to set up the mysql on my computer. i've built the database and table with php myadmin and exported it onto my computer. i am using dreamweaver to do all of my coding and i was wondering if someone could tell my how to set it all up. i've installed inetpub but i don't know where to go from here. the .sql file is on my desktop. if anyone could help i would be greatful

From the title of your thread I deduct that you also need to setup PHP. And that you need to install a server, like Apache, on your PC. A complete set of these software components is compressed into one downloadable package that can be easily installed on your PC. Your choices are:Of the above, XAMPP is the most user friendly to install.

You can, of course, decide to install each component separately. In that case guidance can be found at Installing Apache 2.0 and PHP 5 (and MySQL) on Windows XP

hi now that i have xampp setup how do i go about accessing setting up my database on my local machine. i have it built and saved as a .sql file on my desktop and i know i have to do somthing in the Data Sources (ODBC) and some other places but i am not sure what all i need to do?????

If you have installed the complete XAMPP you have the MySQL code installed on your local PC, along with Apache, PHP and the rest.

Now login to phpMyAdmin and input the .sql file to it, to setup the tables (i.e. create table and insert rows) defined in that file.
