Mysql table

Hi,
I am working on a project in which i have to mainitain a database for the testing cards.
My table is like :
Sr_no.|Test|value|result.

In this test field is already filled by me. and i want to fill remaining fields using perl and mysql.
This is working, but i want the result in such a way that whenever i will send result for the fields value and result, it has to be display on the same row where i already hardcoded my test.
this is not working whenver i am sending my value which i got from web, the new row gets added which fills only the fiedl of result and value. and remaining fields are blank
so can u help me for the same.
