Googling for this error message, I gather that it's frequently due to
exhausting physical memory on your server running MySQL. Some people
have resolved the error by adjusting settings in their my.cnf file to
prevent the mysqld server from requesting too much memory. Also some
people limit the number of connections for users.

It may also be an error that is generated too enthusiastically by a
certain version of MySQL 4.0.x.
See http://archives.neohapsis.com/archiv...4-q3/0144.html

It could also be database corruption.
See http://www.jsw4.net/info/list-archiv.../msg00066.html

I would recommend following the database maintenance and repair
procedures described at: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/mysqlcheck.html

Also upgrade to the most recent release of MySQL 4.1.

Regards,
Bill K.
