The best way to import data is to use the mysqlimport utility. I use
this for all large imports. Some things to keep in mind: the text file
name must be the same as the table name, format the data using a
delimting character ie (csv,tab). Remember to use 0 for an
auto_increment field and \N for other numeric fields where you want a
null value. otherwise you'll recieve warnings.
Example:
mysqlimport --fields-optionally-enclosed-by="""
--fields-terminated-by=, --lines-terminated-by="\r\n"
--user=YOUR_USERNAME --password YOUR_DATABASE YOUR_TABLE.csv
