Mysql upgrade from 3.23 to 4.1 and latin2 problem

Mat
Hi,

I have upgraded my MySQL from 3.23 to 4.1.8. First of all I dumped my
database with mysqldump. After installing new binary (debian woody) I
have created respective database and uploaded my dumped data.
Unfortunately what I can see on the webpage is onll ? instead of
respective national characters.

What should be the procedure to migrate my 3.23 data to 4.1?

I have dumped data. How do I create ne database on 4.1. CREATE
DATABASE name
or CREATE DATABASE name CHARACTER SET latin2 COLLATE
latin2_general_ci?
How should I run mysqld, with default-character-set=latin2 or without?

Should I change anyhow my dumped data before uploading to 4.1(any
DEFAULT CHARACTER SET=latin2 after MyISAM)?

Anything? That I can see diacritics as they are instead of ? marks...

Thanks in advance for some clues.

Regards,

M.
