MySQL and RELATIONSHIPS

Hello to you all,

I am a total newbie to MySQL other than entering data. What I would
like to know is whether it is possible to create relational databases
via MySQL. I would assume so considering its popularity. If possible,
where would I begin? Can someone point me in the direction of some
beginner tutorials? I can create non-related table structures but
would like to define relationships.

Many thanks in advance.

The book "Visual Quickstart Guide to MySQL" by Larry Ullman (Peachpit press)
is very good and covers alot of the mechanics in a step by step manner with
visualrepresent ation of what's going on. To answer your questions in a
post would be redundant to a good book.

I would like to create data model for a group of stores. All stores in this group are very similar to each other, so it is natural to allocate one MySQL database per store. Each database is going to have very similar set of tables with content related to a particular store. Let's suppose each store has multiple departments which are also...

I was told that it is easy to create a table in MYSQL but it is hard to create a table with relationship like in Oracle or SQL Server by using Relationship or Query by Design or whatever wysiwyg tools. It has to be done by SQL query. Is there a better way to do that in MySQL? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Folks, I have 3 mysql replicated servers ( 1 master + 2 slaves). One thing I noticed is that every once in a while the data (*.MYD) and index (*.MYI) files for a table may differ from the other mysql servers. Now my question is this: If I have identical data files on each server (verified by using checksums), should the indexes...

Hi, I have a question regarding autonumbering . I'm using linked tables between msql and MS Access. Quite a few linked tables exist with relationships. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows.
