Hi there,

Which distro of linux are you currently working on? How are you trying to connect to mysql server? Meaning, which method used? SSH? phpMyAdmin?

Please include error message thrown while trying to connect, it will be a little helpful in providing solution. Good luck & Take care.

After a lot of thought and research, and playing with FreeTDS and InlineTDS, as well as various ODBC connections, I have determined that the fastest and cheapest way to get up and going with PHP on Linux, connecting to MS SQL Server, unless it was already pre-installed by your Linux installation, is to build your own multithreaded TCP socket server on Windows and connect to it through the socket API in PHP on Linux (if you have installed...

Some partners of mine and I are writing a host-based application, which would greatly benefit if we could take advantage of a web services-like function we are formulating. Unfortunately, this requires a centralized (or duplicated) MySQL database which can be accessed via several web hosting providers. In my experience, typically web hosting providers only allow localhost access to MySQL databases.

I have a mySQL database located on a remote host's server. I would like to schedule a task on my local Windows computer to retrieve a backup/dump of this remote database. I have contacted my host, and they indicated that the server is only open to the Internet via mySQL. Therefore, even if I did have access to that server's command line (which I don't) to create dumps via mysqldump, I would not be able to retrieve via FTP. Does...

On Linux, I need to ask what your favorite installation options are for a PHP app as a kind of poll. In Part 1, I discussed the Install Wizard preference that you might have. In Part 2, here, I'm trying to decide which options you prefer for the Database Configuration. Consider SugarCRM. It's really an SDK that you customize. Knowing that, you might want to download about 4 to 30 different PHP/CRM products, try out which one you like,...

Hi there. I need to update a remote database from a local one. I use mysqldump in my php page in order to create a file for each table, like this: $command="mysqldump table_products > table_products.sql"; system($command); This works perfect and it gives me a file with a drop-table, create-table and all the insert values.

Hello, I'm having a problem connecting to DB2 on a remote iSeries host from a Linux server, both of which reside on my company's internal network. I'm using the IBM Linux Client V9.1. When I try to connect to the remote host using a simple connect statement, DB2 hangs. The connection statement I'm using (I've obviously obscured the parameter names): $ ./db2 connect to DATABASENAME user USERNAME using PASSWORD;

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
