What tools are you using for mobile app development?

We have to turn a couple of legacy applications into mobile apps for our clients so their employees can do work on the go.

What are some good tools to help in developing mobile apps? OS specific tools(android, apple, blackberry)? Debuggers, IDE's, SDKs, etc . . .

I've only started developing mobile apps for my Android and I use Eclipse because the Android OS is Java/XML-based. I had to download the Android SDK from the Android developers website, along with the emulator for testing. I only develop for my phone for kicks, so you probably already know this, but in any case you'll have to download the SDK for the specific Android operating system you're developing for (Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, etc.).

I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I thought I'd respond just in case. There are a number of good videos on YouTube that provide tutorials for developing Android apps and all the ones I've viewed recommend Eclipse.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Ended up going with a mobile browser app once we figured out we'd never be able to get all the versions out to the client on time.

Jeff, been hearing some good things about DragonFiresdk.

I am in the exact same situation. I build web apps for my company. Once we started needing mobile solutions we found PhoneGap to work like a charm because like you said we have no time to build apps two and three times for different platforms. Maybe this is similar to what you are doing.. PhoneGap uses the phone's browser as a runtime and you program in html and javascript. You can get these things to run so well that you can't tell they are not native.

Having many years of Java development I naturally used Java/Eclipse for a while to develop Apps for the android market. The only caveat I have is the lack of a proper interface builder. Searching around I found Basic4Android. At first I thought Visual Basic will not be capable, and wrong I was. The Interface builder that comes with it wins over any android development IDE I have seen to date. BTW I bought the Enterprise version for 50% off down to 50 bucks :)
I used a friend's coupon code "cxrfyw"
