Brightness setting problem for 2495 and other wm5 devices

Hello
I am using “\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight“ registry setting to set the brightness of device through my C# application. It is working fine for 38xx and 22xx series devices but it is not working for 2495 device. Again for DELL X51 device, I need to do soft reset to reflect the registry changes but 2495 device will not reflect the changes after doing device soft rest too..

Please help me to solve this problem.

Thanks
Anil

There is nothing in Windows Mobile that forces the device manufacturer to use the registry settings. the 2495 device might get its BackLight information from another area and not in HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight. Does the 2495 use the BackLight control panel? Does it use a propritary non-MS control panel? It is dependent on the hardware and software that your device has.

Their is HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight registry for 2495 device which contains the information about Backlight setting of device. But when I change the brightness manually, that registry would not reflect it’s value, but changes reflect in device. I think you are right, 2495 might use some other registry values. I searched for other registry values but I could not found the correct one. If you know then please let me know. About software and Hardware combination dependency, I don’t think so because if you are manually changing the brightness value then device reflect the changes immediately but not for registry value.
Please let me know your comments.

In Microsoft's operating system that registry key exists for the Back Light control panel. But the back light/power management driver needs to also use those values, this is part of the platform code that ODMs need to write to get WM to work on their device. You will need to contact the manufacturer of you device and tell them that you want to be able to programatically change the back light setting. You may need to reset the device each time or they may tell you a different way. It is very hard for me to give you good advice with out the device sitting right in front of me hooked up to a debugger, and maybe a jtagger.

Sorry.
