Have a read at the Signature Guidelines. Hopefully, that will help answer your questions.

no kevin, it doesn't quite answer -- at the link you provided, it is stated that signatures will only appear in PMs. it states signatures can be added to posts with editing. this does imply that i have a signature in the first place, doesn't it?

you have this in your profile, right......."Working with a limited amount of intelligence.....still. "

when i first created my profile, there was a space for me to enter a signature. well, at the moment i didn't have a signature i want to use, still don't. but eventually i might figure out which of several statements most suits me...

i haven't seen that little window again. in fact, when i click on settings>signature, i am told quite specifically that i am prohibited from having a signature. why?

certainly, i'm not going to have a tantrum and quit the club ;-). as i said i don't even have something i want to use, yet. i just like to understand things. sambacat

That is strange. I would suggest that you PM an Admin to see if they can help you. I have had the ability to have a signature since day one. Not sure why you are not. I wish I could help more.

Well, I don't know anything specifically about that issue, but I do know that sigs are discouraged in general...even to the point of being disabled in the tech forums. They break up the flow of the thread, and some people would get stupid with them. You may have seen other forums where people have a sig with 10 pics or one big pic or 10 links...we don't need that.

i totally agree that people don't need to go overboard -- well, they do need it, but we don't need for them to do it.

and i can see why they are not included in the posts. but why not on the profile page? sambacat
