Seeking help in getting started with Web Development with database integration

All,

I am an absolute beginner when it comes to web development. I have built a few sites using tools like FrontPage and WebPlus, but when it comes to programming in HTML, XML, .Net etc., I am as green as a new leaf.

The web development tools help me put aweb site together very quickly using templates for layouts etc. I now want to take it to the next level where I can integrate it with databases and run API's to gather information from other sites and data sources.

I am looking for someone to guide me in the right direction to take my first baby step into this big world of web development. I have read and heard a lot of pople talk about starting with learning Java, JSP, Ajax, MySQL and .Net to get what I need to do. Frankly, a lot of these terms scare me, not knowing anything about them.

Is there anyone out there that can provide me with a step-by-step guidance on where to start for an absolute beginner (who has a couple of tools like NetFusion, WebPlus and can get access to Dreamweaver) so that I can capture data from the websites, manipulate it and display context sensitive data as the users go about browsing my website.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to hearing from several kind souls out there!

Best!

Thats a pretty large request. I don't think we are going to be able to guide you step by step through a project like this, and i doubt anyone is going to want to (unless they were paid)

We can point you in the right direction to get started, but its not a good sign for you when words like "java" scare you. If thats the case maybe you should really reconsider what you are trying to do.

W3Schools provides some nice simple web language tutorials. Choose a server-side language, e.g. PHP or ASP, and a database, e.g. MySQL, then try some of the tutorials. Hope that helps.

I just want to say that web developing and programming is the need of this century. And as far as your question is concerned. I would also recommend to read some tutorials Which Acoder has suggested.
