regarding IP address

Well I unknowingly posted a screenshot of my browser window in some forum and that image also was showing my IP address...
I just wanna know that can somebody (hacker/cracker) access my computer and steal data on my PC or cause any harm...

I have AVG antivirus and spybot as well as firewall installed.....
Also login is through password.........

I'm not sure what they could do with your IP address, but now you know in the future to check that stuff before you post it :)

It depends totally on your network setup. Are you behind a router or firewall? Do you use NAT? Do you have servers running on your machine? What is your Operating system? Are you patched up with the latest software?

Just so you know, most servers you visit log your IP (including this one) I wouldn't be too concerned about it. They will get more use out of your email address then your IP.
