Can a perl cgi script access a jpeg file's properties?

Hi,

I am trying to make a perl script that will display an image (passed in as a parameter to the perl script) and also add a drop shadow around it. The problem is that I need to create a different table (different images making up the drop shadow) based on whether the picture passed is portrait or landscape in orentation. This would be easily done if I could access the properties of the image to get it's resolution.

I already have a script written which displays an image and then adds a form to give the user an option to purchase. See here but I want to improve this by adding the drop shadow, see here for an example:
http://www.actionshots.ie/ds_slices/drop_shadow.html - as you can see, the picture gets sqashed down if it is a portrait becuase I had to fix the table size to get the drop shadow down. So - I need to design one fixed size table for a portrait jpeg and another for a landscape. The script needs to be able to decide which one to use and I dont what to have to pass that info to the script if I can avoid it.

Image::Magick is going to be the best option for what you are looking for.
