I have another one.
Three friends went to a hotel. The bill was Rs.30, Each one contributed Rs.10.
The waiter took the bnill to the casher. The cashier was happy and decided to give
them a discount of Rs.5 & asked the waiter to rturn them Rs.5. Now the watier was confused.
How to distribut Rs.5 among 3 person. He Kept R.2 in his pocket 7 gave one Rs to each one
of he e persons. So initally each one had conribute R.10. Now as they ar given 1 Rs back,
there contribution reduce to Rs.9. They all contributed Rs.9 that is total of 27 & Rs.2 re in the
waiter's poket. The total becomes Rs.29 but they had paid Rs.30, Wher is the remainig Rs.1 ????

That's just a matter of wrong logics. Actually, you have to ad the Rs. 5 discount they had with the Rs. 27 they payed. Then you have Rs. 32 so you have to <the inverted of "to add", but I don't know the word> the Rs. 2 that the waiter "stole".

When you reach the 27 number, you are adding instead of subtracting... that's the logical fallacy :-)

Paid = 30
Minus Discount = 25
Each paid 9 * 3 = 27
Total paid = 27
Minus 2 the waiter kept = 25.

Scott

The elephant's shadow
Not really, since the shadow is 2D and the elephant is 3D.
Sep 23 '07 #7
also depends on the angle of the sun. ie:if the sun is over the elephant the shadow is small. if it (the sun) is on the horizon it is much larger.

You are not not getting the point. I said that thay each contributed RS.10 but now as they are given 1 Rs back, there contribution reduce to Rs.9. They all contributed Rs.9 that is total of 27 & Rs.2 are in the
waiter's poket. The total becomes Rs.29 but they had paid Rs.30, My question is where is the remainig Rs.1 ?

I tought it was already said that the logic behind this is wrong, there is no remaining Rs. 1

There is nothing wrong with the logic. there is a mathematical explaination for this. You just need to work it out a bit, the answer is very simple.

Double counted the Rs.2 since the 2 that the waiter keeps is already counted in the payment. Also the Rs.3 that was refunded is not counted.

That is wrong logic. If u cant figure it out i think u better Give up. Should i tell the answer?

Please don't because it has been told a couple of times before but you don't
want to accept those answers as valid.

actually, there's no Rs.1 remaining (I think).

Rs.25 was paid to the cashier.
Rs.1 for each person, so Rs.1 *3 = Rs.3
Rs.2 was taken by the waiter.

Then, the sum of 25 + 3 + 2 = 30

You make this a little bit confusing by your question...

am I right?

I suppose it's a currency.

And to jimhakans, are we looking for an answer based on "real-life logics" or "joke logics"?

You are right Momogi. It was just a confusing question and by the way all these answers also made me a little bit confused so I think you are right.

There are 7 girls in a bus. Each girl has 7 bags. Inside each bag there are 7 big cats. Each big cat has 7 small cats.

Calculate how many legs?
7 girls = 14 legs
7*7 = 49 bags-->49*7 = 343 big cats = 1372 legs
343*7 = 2401 small cats = 9604 legs

so if you add them up: 14 + 1372 + 9604 = 10990 legs

Steel mills make steel, thye dont need steel at all - trick question.

also to what is as big as elephant but weighs nothing is -

an elephant in space

it weighs nothing, since weight = mass x gravity

Actually that's wrong: an elephant in space would explode, because there is no pressure, so it's needs a spacesuit (that word probably does not exist, but you know what I mean :P). So you should describe it as "an elephant that's wearing a spacesuit", and that's bigger than just an elephant.

Actually you are taking a Steel Question a bit seriously. Steel is the name of a man and he comes from Germany ; D

Actually in the absence of imperical evidence I think that this is pure congecture and not a reason to eliminate the answer.

I think you could say that he neither has any empirical evidence that an elephant will be weightless in space.
