Updating a CMS stored in flat XML files.

Ok. I'm new to the programming / developing scene. I usually teach myself what I need to learn. So anyway this is what i'm trying to accomplish.

I've created a site (HTML/JavaScript) that displays different video clips, and along with each clip there can be a different text, images, links, and advertisements associated with it. I'm currently using just ordinary JavaScript arrays to store the values, file names, etc for the 100 or so video clips.

The problem is now that updating it is a pain, and requires me manually going in and changing the JavaScript code. I would like to create a special web interface for certain privileged users in order to "update" the content of the main page by filling out values that would normally be in the arrays.

So the solution in my head sounds like it needs to do something like this... A Form submitted to update an xml file that is then read at a later time by the media site.

I may be missing some important steps along the way. Any specific advice or technologies that i should be using to make this happen? Thanks everyone!

Thank you. I'm not sure if XML is the ultimate answer, but it makes sense to me at first glance.
