what is metadata and why metadata is required?

However, to explain in more detail you will have to say what specifically you are talking about.

In a database it could be the structure of the tables including the datatype, datasize, constraints, etc.

ARI is basically a exception mgt tool..Metadata is a collection of database objects (tables,functions,procedures,packages)..exeception will be designed such a way that to monitor value change in the database objects. It will be designed based on the business requirement.
