Certifications

I've been contemplating going after a few certifications. Does anyone have any? If so, how much do you think they have helped you out? Which certification did you start with?

Hi Aric,

I started with MCSE, it's has really helped me out in my business. Since am doing on my own i use MCSE as a gateway to secure new contracts / business.

Since we are dealing with people on day-to-day basis, as you know already, they value you on what you have and not on what you know. MSCE didn't provide me with much on the knowledge part, maybe one or two tricks. Working experience provided most towards knowledge.

Good luck & Take care.

Aric

When you are starting out certificates can make a big difference in helping prospective employers to judge your capabilities. Once you have a few years experience most but not all employers put greater emphasis on experience.

As far as your own skills are concerned it is the nature of our business that you have to continue to learn all the time. Sometimes this can be achieved in the workplace and sometimes you have to complete courses to brush up on your skills.

Thanks, I think I'll check out the material and see if I can get my boss to pay for it, if not I think I will wait a little while I want to learn at least 2 more languages in the next year.
