Do not double post your questions

Banfa
9,065 Expert Mod 8TB
Double posting is where you start a thread on a topic and then for some reason start another thread on exactly the same topic.

Please do not do this because
  1. It makes it very hard for people to answer you especially if there are answers happening in all the threads you have started because they have to read 2 or more threads in order to see what has already been said.
  2. It swamps the forum with your problem resulting in less attention for the other threads.

If you feel for some reason that you post has been overlooked (for instance it hasn't has any replies) please do not repost the question. Post a message to the thread you started, this will bump it back to the top of the thread list for the forum.

Yeah,

There is a lot double postings!

And sometimes I understand the reason about!

Sometimes when the user don't obtain an immediate response of his post but it's urgent for him he searches help in other forums!

The users have to know that however they have to wait a little for responses!

It's true that I'm interested in Access and it's my favorite forum! But also I watch the others one! If I can halp over there I do it!

The posts have to concern the respective topic!

Also don't post twice in the same forum! When we see a post without answer we attempt to respond! But on this question there is response other where!

So please don't do it!

Banfa Hi

There is another problem I've been having with Private Messages. I don't mind when they're appropriate. Although I do encourage them to post to the forums as there is a bigger pool of experts available to help.

However, because there is no indication of what the experts are expert in (excuse my grammer) I get a lot of private messages regarding areas outside my expertise. If there was some way to display the basic specialities of the various experts this would help.

A bigger problem is that I have been getting messages asking me to reply to a private email address for a mysterious discussion. I know better than to reply but thought I should bring it to your attention.

If there was a way to show posts that are open or closed it would help to reduce the number of posts and should reduce the amount of double posting.

I have the same 2 problems. I think it might be good to know what the experts are expert in, perhaps I'll start a thread (but not tonight).

As to the second problem, generally I direct them to the "Don't PM Community Experts Directly" thread, however if anyone is being a serious problem to you tell me who they are and I will take stronger action against them.

I'm afraid this is one of the burdens of being famous :D

Not quite sure I know what you mean but it sounds like something you should suggest to KUB365 who deals with that sort of thing.

No!

The point is why would you need to, double posting is posting the same question to the same forum more than once. If you have already posted it then there is no need to post it again you can just post a reply to the thread you already have.

If you are not sure which is the best place to put the question, for instance if you are not sure if the probelm you are having is with Visual basic or Access then posting the same question in both forums would be aceptable.

Please post your question in the C++ or Java forum depending on which OO language you are using.

The only time I double post is when I realize I posted the question in the wrong thread. However, I will post questions in two different forums concerning the same issue, IF and only IF I have a problem with 2 different questions that needs a linux expert on one end, and a Java expert on another.
For example, trying to figure out why a java game won't work on a linux server. It could be coding and strictly java issue, or it could be the server and strictly linux issue, or the coding isn't quite correct for the server and its anybodies guess, who can fix it. I do try to keep it all in one forum though. LOL
