Magnetic tape contents listing

77
Hello
I want to know how to find out where my magnetic tape is mounted in system directory tree.ex. /dev/st0.. and display its contents. I used
this site for help,.. and tried command
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. tar -tzf /dev/st0
.. but am getting the error that no such file or directory exists... meaning the magnetic tape is not at /dev/st0..

not always your mounted tape drive will have the name st0, instead check for it using
$ cat fstab | more
(or)
$ mount

Just type df command at the command prompt, it will show you the free space in Linux file systems, here you can find the device on which the file system is mounted and the mount point also.
