Hello friends,
At first, I installed windows-xp and after ubuntu. My windows-xp has encountered a problem that registry files are corrupted, then i re-installed windows-xp. So it doesn't show operating system selection menu. I thought grub is corrupted. Please help me in this situation how to install grub. I have ubuntu cd. I tried some commands read from internet like:
root (hda0,0)
setup (hda0)

first command is ok , but with second command i got the errors as,
setup (hd0)
Checking if "/boot/grub/stage1" exists... no
Checking if "/grub/stage1" exists... no

Error 15: File not found
So, what to do my friends please help me. I have so many important files in my ubuntu.

This is a common problem. XP overwrites your grub when you reinstall. You just need to re-install grub. (boot your live cd, then grub-install)

google for "install grub" gives lots of help, just pick one that you understand. I searched this forum and found this: http://bytes.com/forum/thread800560-install+grub.html
