Build debian Package

All,

I have a folder which contain text file and some other file. I want to pack this folder to be debian package ( example.deb ) which i can used the command dpkg -i example.deb to install it to my debian OS. could anyone tell me the step to build this package, including how to make the control file, preinstall, and postrm file?

This will tell you everything you need to know. Another quick solution is checkinstall

Hi,

There are many ways to build a debian package. If you know command line then you can go ahead and use the terminal but if you just want to build a package without touching the underlying commands then you can use a GUI tool it's called Debian Package Maker.

You can build package Manually or directly from a Source.

You can download the Ubuntu deb and the source at:
