Disabling auto-backups of text files

WhiteRider
Hi folks!

I'd like to know if theres a way to stop Linux (or at least Slax) from making a backup of an edited file. For example when you make a text file, edit it and then save it , lets say, as "hello" Linux will create a backup of it as "hello~". This can be annoying for me because I feel it can clutter some of my folders.

Even if it would add "." to the start of it rather than "~" at the end. this would be better cos that means I would still have the file backed up but not cluttering my folder.

Thanks

This option will be specific to the editor you are using; typically you will be able to enable and disable this through a hidden configuration file in your home directory.

Yes! I use Kwrite and I found a way to disable it. I just presumed it was a n OS thing and not an application that was doing it for some reason. Cheers.
