general unix question

There are five files available. How would u replace a word "printf" to "PRINTF"
in the of all 5 files.

Wow, I don't know that you could get any more 'general' than that.

First, what are you using to do the replacement? A shell script? A perl script? Is it to be done globally throughout each file?

Why don't you post the code that you have tried thus far and we can guide you along?
