how to suppress username@hostname displaying after logging in linux

Hi Friends,


Whenever iam logging in to a linux machine , it is displaying my login shell (after opening a terminal)like
username@hostname.how to avoid this .I just want my shell to be displayed.

I believe this is all controlled through the environment variable $PS1.
You will have to edit your shell's rc script.
This is typically .bashrc or .profile.
