Unix installation and basics

Hi

Where can i find a good practical guide to install unix and to study it from the basics?Im very new to unix and i like to know whether there are some versions for it and it yes,as a beginer which one should i try.

Usually it is best to find a user friendly version of Linux, and install that following the guide provided by that distro. Ubuntu is a great one for beginners.

FreeBSD is great and comes with an excellent online handbook and other documentation. FreeBSD is a descendant of ATT Unix.
