passing row number from html table to javascript

I have an html table, populated by a js array. My problem...I am trying to edit a row in the table/array and am having trouble figuring out how to get the html to pass the row data back to javascript so that I may edit the array and send the new information back to the html table. I'm at a total loss with this one and don't know where to start. I've found some code online, but it's not working. Help?
Thanks in advance.

without looking at any code that you have involved it's hard to give you a good advice. for an idea though: you may keep a reference from any table line to the original javascript array - with a key for instance - and update the array on the change events of the row's columns. but it all depends on your current 'populating solution'. it might have to be extended a bit and it even depends on the interaction that you want to have - like a modified and/or comitted state of the table and so on.
