Ajax interacting with the databse.

Hello there im rodney, and i would like to ask for guides about seat map, and i need an idea how to interact the databse in a div which could change the div state(color) depends of the status of the reservation(value in database). as much as possible how could i make this in ajax and what i need to learn about. Thank you
