You can't.

Either find a more appropriate group or try http://www.tucows.com/ for
some screensaver creation software.

Depends.

With (Java)scripting on Windows(?) systems with Internet Explorer, it can,
when running as HyperText Application (.hta). See the Windows 2k/XP(?)
Software item from the Control Panel -- that is an HTA.

HTML alone cannot, since it is a markup language, not a programming language.

That is pure html, and would make a pretty effective screen saver,
assuming the OS can run it in a full screen mode with all browser
controls hidden.

So you're saying that I'm right, then? Good.

A screensaver requires an executable which HTML documents are not. A
screensaver executable could call the user agent to display the document,
however.

And there was me thinking a screen saver was merely a device to save the
screen. How about the original screen saver - the monitor's power
button?

Often on-/off-switching shortens the lifetime of monitors :)
