value show or hide for css is set in jquery animate method

my question is about jquery

string show or hide in css that is set inside jquery method animate , are special for some css property or can be set for any css that is set inside animate method ?for example show or hide is special opacity or can set for width and height and i thank you if you describe with detail.

and my another question is as follow is
if value show or hide can be used for any css property is show maximum value for that property and is hide equal with minimum value for that property?

The show and hide methods of jquery are basically setting the css display property for the element it is being called on, giving the element display:block for show and display:none for hide.
