zooming into <a name=""

Is it possible to zoom into a <a name=""></a> section using javascript?
I mean the same affect as reloading the page with the # method.

The name should not be empty. You would need
<a name="anchorName">...</a>
then you can scroll to the anchor with
location.hash = 'anchorName'
