Compatibility View List in IE8

hi,
i have tested ie8 and for my suprise this browser have this "Compatibility View List"
when this is turned off some sites that i have made that have
some ajax functions simple donīt run i donīt see any error
nothing, this simple donīt work.
when i turn on that function the site run normal as i seen in firefox or
ie7 or later, now the big question how can i send a warning to the
visitors that they need activate that option?
this is a big problem for the developers we creat a page and now
i need test if is all ok for ie8? why micros donīt respect the web stands
like firefox or simple leave the ie8 like ie6/7 that donīt have this problem.
thanks for your help

as always ... IE just sucks ... i don't have any IE8 to test ... but you could try to use a try-catch with a function that should work and when it fails due to the setting then notify the user ...

kind regards
