If you are trying to open a new window then "window.open" may be what
you want

window.open("http://google.com/");

You could use this in a link

<a href="http://google.com/" onclick="window.open('http://
google.com/');">google in new window</a>

There are many ways to write this but perhaps this will get you
started.
