how to prevent field being refreshed?

dear all..

I try an upload script from: http://www.phpletter.com/uploaded/pr...fileupload.zip

in online demo page, it's ok, but when I downloaded it and try to localhost, input field is always refresh after submit button is pressed.

how to prevent this field from being refreshed? I tried to find out the problem but I still cant.

Thank you very much.

Have you made any changes to the code?
Dec 29 '07 #2
No, I didn't change anything. I downloaded it, I tried, then field is always refreshed if submit button is clicked.

Could you check the script please? I really need this script for my final assignment. :(

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

The script requires jQuery and is actually a plugin. Have you downloaded and installed jQuery? Have you followed the installation instructions for the plugin here?

yes, i did. i have follow all instruction very very carefully.
I included jquery already.

I tried in firefox, no problem. but when i try in IE and opera, file upload field is always refreshed.

That probably means that there's an error. Before the page refreshes, does an error appear? Try testing by cancelling the form submission with a 'return false' in the onsubmit.

sorry for the late reply.

there's no any error message.

I have put return false in 'onsubmit' section but it's still doesn't work. :(

I tried the online demo. It doesn't work. It gives a Syntax Error alert.

strange, i tried with opera and firefox and it's ok.
i downloaded the script then try with IE, FF and Opera it doesn't contains any error msg. only if i use opera and IE, the field is always refreshed after submitted.

now i'm really confusing.

Well, how about this one? I tried this in Firefox and it gives me a syntax error message alert (not in the error console). When I tried with IE7, it works!

oh, it's really weird. :(

could you download it and try in localhost, pls? :D

because the problem I mean is in download version.

thank you so much for helping me so far. :)

Is it important to use this particular script?

See, for example, this simple script.

Note that "Ajax" file uploads use an iframe to make the upload because the XMLHttpRequest object can't handle file uploads.

yes, it is very important for me because i use it to complete my final assignment in my college.

I've tried ajax file upload from wetoolkit. It uses iframe and it even refreshing form page after form is submitted.

I need an upload form which able to send the variable back to the browser (via alert msg, etc) w/o refresh form page (real time) just like phpletter has.

thank you very much in advance. :)

I meant this particular script from phpletter, not any file upload script.

It works without refreshing the page in both Firefox and IE (and I would guess other browsers too).
