online document editing (rte's and doc conversion tools)

Hi people,

In some of our webapps we offer people the possibility to upload/download documents. It'd be great if they also could edit those documents on-line (text anyway, the images/videos/etc.. can wait).
I was thinking about an RTE (Rich Text Editor) like the one I'm typing this message in and maybe some conversion tools to convert .doc to html (to load into the RTE).
I have to think about the conversion, because I'm quite sure there's nothing out there that's able to deal with .doc 100% correct.

Anyway, I'm looking for an ultra-light RTE which will not affect the rest of my JavaScript (I've had bad experiences with e.g. prototype.js ;) ). Of course i did some googling, but there are simply too many options and i really could use some insight and recommendations.

So, in short:
  • which RTE do you recommend?
  • does anyone has experience with converting .doc to html (and back)?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Merry Christmas btw :)

There are quite a few editors which have a "Paste from Word" feature. Maybe you could adapt that to your requirements.
