Size restriction of image

I like to check image size in client side. I have used the following code but it shows does not create activex object. How do i include activex in my php?

var oas = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
var d = document.intro.photo1.value;
var e = oas.getFile(d);
var f = e.size;
alert(f+"bytes");

Firstly, this will only work in IE.

Secondly, you'll have to enable it by allowing the ActiveX to execute.
