outputting html through javascript

Little problem here.

How would i go about outputting "»" through giving something a value.

i.e.
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1.   if(validateEmail(emailValue) === false){
  2.     emailStyle.color = "red";
  3.     emailText.value = "&raqou; Invalid Email!";
  4.   } else {
  5.     emailStyle.color = "green";
  6.     emailText.value = "» Valid Email!"
  7.   }
  8. }
  9.
Using that would just output the text "»"

How do i get it as html?
