I've been searching for documentation on document.createHTMLDocument and I can't tell how well supported it is. I need to be able to create a new HTML document in Javascript and have that code work in IE and Firefox. What should I be doing?

I'm not sure, but I don't think it's (widely?) supported as yet. You could try using createDocument instead.
