document.selection - blocking

I am writing a drag-and-drop interface for a page that I built.
In this page, I have an object containing a "div" as a temporary container for my items, between the "mousedown" and the "mouseup".

My problem is - When i drag the items, text is being selected in the document.

I tried to fix it by using document.selection.empty() in my mouseMove function, but that causes somekind of a problem with the dragged item.

I will post my code if necessary, but essentially - Is there a way to tell the document not to be selected?

After an assigned event is handled by its target element, it bubbles up to the element's container. Eventually the event reaches the body element and the default body behavior of a mousemove while mousedown is performed- selecting the elements under the mouse.

You need to cancel the event bubbling after you handle the event at your dragged element- set (event).cancelBubble=true (IE), and call(event).stopPropagation() (the other browsers) in the element's mouse event handlers.
