Javascript is client side and therefore it is 'static'. You could write a function to search the page, or a certain object on the page, for keywords that you statically supply, or taken from an input box of sorts. It wouldn't be fantastic at all as you could only search the page that you're on, and technically the 'find' function in most browsers performs this option for you already.

To make something like this worthwhile, in my opinion, you'd need to use a server-side language to create such a search tool to create any reasonable affect.

You could use AJAX on the other hand, but you'd still need to power it using a server-side language.
