Try adding "opacity:.95;" to the style.

Is it all versions of IE or just a particular version that is causing a problem. Are you using a valid DOCTYPE on the page so that IE is not in quirks mode?

Like phvfl said you have to set a doctype, or else ie will give you the hardest time.

you have to place quotes around opacity:
<div class="myArea" style="-moz-opacity:0.95;filter:alpha('opacity=95')">
<a class="child" href="example1.html">Product One</a>
<a class="child" href="#">Product Two</a>
<a class="child" href="#">Product Three</a>
</div>
give that a shot and tell us how it goes,
good luck

opacity is the standard attribute, but you should keep -moz-opacity in for backwards compatibility.

For IE, you may need to give a background or a fixed position for opacity/transparency to work.

Hi All,
Thanx for all the feedbacks. i applied style="-moz-opacity:0.95;filter:alpha('opacity=95')" for the div but still it's not working on IE-6 , but it's working in FF. i'm applying this menu to a dynamic web application that developed using jsp.
After applying the above style background color of that DIV is now white. but i set background color to {background: #7189c3}. This is not white but how IE-6 display background in White.
Need a help from u all

IE filters only work with elements that have layout. See documentation.
